My name is Ocean and this is how it's going after I quit my job suddenly to pursue art full time.
I never thought I could turn my art into a profession or make money off of it. Growing up, we are told our creativity won't serve us. "You need to find a job, even if makes you miserable. It pays the bills and your drawings won't."
I let these people run my life and I've been stuck in the cycle of working until I burn myself out, quitting, and then starting all over again. Throughout the years, I've let my problems define how I live instead of taking a hold of my future and doing what I want with my life. And honestly, I'm sick of it.
I'm convincing myself every day that my expression matters. My art, my writing, is me proving to myself I can do this. I deserve to live however makes me happy and I can sustain myself while doing it.
My products give insight on me, my journey, and what it is like being a queer, neurodivergent, person of color trying to make it in this world.
